Join Town & Gown

Prospective Members

Prospective members are invited to attend two events during the Town & Gown year, July 1 – June 30, by a current member. Once that criteria has been met, the current member may invite the prospect to join the organization. A membership application is provided by the membership chair.

While members are encouraged to personally invite interested persons to attend Town & Gown events to familiarize themselves with our organization, its purpose and members, attending a Town & Gown event neither obligates a guest to become a member nor implies an automatic invitation to membership. Rather, it is an opportunity to learn about the University and share that information. Members are encouraged to invite guests to those programs that may be of particular interest to the guest.

Membership Application Process

  1. Members wishing to invite a prospect to become a Town & Gown member shall contact the membership chair to discuss a candidate’s potential interest in joining Town & Gown and request an application.
  2. The members/sponsors are encouraged to mentor an applicant with respect to attendance at events and all matters pertaining to membership and participation in Town & Gown. Applications may be submitted at any time during the fiscal year, although they will not be reviewed by the Membership Committee until after the spring luncheon. Applications received by the end of the fiscal year will be considered for membership in the following Council fiscal year.
  3. The Membership Committee will review all applications to make certain membership criteria have been met, and the committee will submit the list of applicants for membership to the Board of Directors.
  4. New members will be voted in by the Board of Directors. New members will receive an invitation to membership from the President and will be officially introduced at the annual fall meeting.

Orientation

Town & Gown Council at UCF formally welcomes our new members at an orientation session in August. At the session, the new members and their sponsors are introduced to UCF students, UCF and things that are new and upcoming. The orientation serves as a great platform for being ambassadors for the university.
